I often post that the 3 Amigos (Shannon Goard (Bull), Mark Beckwith (Diesel) and Ramon Alvarez (Ana)) are heading to the Bullpen (Shannon's place at St Hurbet's Island on the Central Coast) and everyone is welcome to join them.
Bull has sent thru a description of last Saturdays ride. After reading this I think we need to rename them to the 3 Stooges.
Last Saturday I am the designated meeting point, the Rhodes bridge cycle path . No sign of the lads, I head across to Meadowbank and they are there. When I asked why they were there, they informed me it was the northern end of Rhodes!
With that off we went. I had been at a Gin House the night
before and Ramon had been at the PLCC/Park Bikes TdF night at the Bath Arms pub. The original plan was for a Bobbo extension. But after the big night we decide after the Kisso climb (Kissing Pt Rd climb to the Pacific Highway at Turramurra) to ditch Bobbo. So we turn left at Turramurra. We get to the lights at Hornsby and we cannot find Ramon. He had dropped his bidon. After collecting him, we get to Hornsby railway station, they go left, I go right. We regroup the other side of Hornsby.
We get to Brooklyn and Ramon needs a pee break. We stop and he eats. We get to the bottom of Bebenham crescent (Gosford) and Ramon needs another pee and some more food. He also decides he is now too hot. He disrobes multiple layers, down to bibs only, gets re-dressed but leaves his straps hanging out. He gets re-dressed again, then gets on his bike without his helmet that was laying in the grass. Eventually we roll off.
We TT to the Woy Woy waterfront and lose him. We re-group and eventually get to my place. I make coffees. Ramon has breakfast beer.
So next time I mention would anyone like to join then, perhaps we need to think twice 😀. However the view at Bullpen is well worth the effort and at the end of day Ramon gave it the thumbs up.
