The NSW TTT is on in Nowra on July 21. We are going to start having some practice rides over the coming weeks. The first being this coming Saturday June 16. Meet at Park Bikes at 6.30am where we will head to Parra Park. Depending on numbers and who turns up, we will try and put everyone into their respective teams . Where this is not possible, we will put together people of similar levels. We will return to SOP for coffee.
Everyone is welcome, so if you are not coming to Nowra but want to join in, come along.
Also make sure you follow this post as we will use this to keep everyone up to date with news on the TTT and the weekend in general.
Although I'm not planning to participate in Nowra I am more than happy to join the training events.
Im definitely in for this Saturday's training session. Hey Foxy, do you think that you could also post the draft teams on the forum. To remind me and others who our team mates are?
Found it! Is this still the current team list?
Foxy I am unable to get to Nowra for TTT weekend I have a family commitment in QLD, going there on the 15th July back on the 31st. Sorry guys unavoidable. I will still help with the training sessions starting this Saturday.
Thats a shame John. Please touch base with Renee re your accommodation.
I was going to update the list anyway as Shane McGlone is joining us and that brings Team Metal (team 5) back to 4 riders. (Matt you need to get some metal inside of you between now and July 21.)
The teams are not 100% locked down. Nathan Comans is coming down so we are trying to find a few more people to create a 7th team. Also we need to find an extra or two for the A grade team. I've made some adjustments to what Pat posted earlier. Here is the teams as they stand at the moment, minus Nathan. We need to register in the next couple of weeks, so I do need to finalise everything by then. The club is covering the entry fees.
I encourage as many of you as possible to try and get to the training this Saturday. Also give some thought as to whether you would like to have a race trial before Nowra. We could approach ATTA to see if we could do a TTT up at Calga on July 1.
Lets keep the communications flow.
Cesar? Panther? Andy Yuen? Charles and Dan? What about the legendary Lambs. They could almost make a team on there own!
Is there a mixed team? Nathan could take my space
I just had a look @tania_mulvey but I can't see a mixed team category.
Thanks Foxy, I sent an email to Renee earlier today re accommodation. I was looking at options considered flying back for weekend but not possible. Next year for me.
Good Morning Russell,
Just to let you know, I'm locked in for the event but unable to make this Saturday as I'm at a conference.
I will keep an eye on the website to make sure I can make the next session.
What is the best way to get in touch with Renee to confirm accommodation?
Cheers
Shane
I'll be there on Saturday and can take the open spot if it's still going
Good stuff Nash must be the Italian inspiration.
That is great Nash. See you Saturday
Re Team 6; three of us can't make it Saturday, however we ride together pretty much every Tuesday at PP on the laps so aren't overly concerned.
Great turnout yesterday for the TTT training session. I think most of us found it hugely beneficial and we improved each lap. Big thanks to Nash for leading the session.
The next planned session is to compete in the TTT at Calga on Sunday July 1. This happens to be the same day as the Marconi Remembrance Cup which I know a number of people are very interested in, so it will be up to the individual to choose where they want to go. We will need to organise the teams for those keen to have a go at Calga and we need to give ATTA some advance notice so we get our start time allocated. So if you are keen to have a crack at a race, then please respond below and we will organise the teams as best we can.
The final session will be on July 14. We'll be doing this up at Bobbo to practise descending and climbing as a team. We'll provide some more details on this closer to the day but mark the date in your calender.
Let's see who learnt what from Nash's session on Saturday. Which direction is the wind coming from in the picture below?
Technically I would say between "d" & "b"the 5 riders in pink are a real good example
B for Birdman...
Change of plans. The TTT race at Calga this Sunday is out but another training session is on this Saturday. The same deal as last time. Depart from Park Bikes at 6.30am and head to Parra Park. About an hour of drills and head back to SOP for coffee. Should be back around 8.30am.
As always everyone is welcome. Would be great to get as many of the people heading to Nowra there as possible.
See you all there.
All,
We’ve had a few people drop out along the way and a few extra’s join. This has caused us to juggle the teams about a bit. I hope to have this finalised within the next couple of days.
The club is registering everyone for the TTT. If you intend on doing the “Ride for Robbie” race on the Sunday, you need to register yourself. Registrations can be done at the Cycling NSW website and these close on Wednesday July 11. My experience from last year was that the Divisions correspond to one grade lower than normal club racing. So if you ride B grade, go into Div 3, C grade into Div 4.
We will know the start time for the teams approx. 1 week before the race. I’ll communicate this out as soon as we get the information. Last year we tried to get down there in time to see the first team head out and we stayed and watched everyone head out and come back. The camaraderie was fantastic and we really enjoyed it.
Grumpy (Grant Fahey), the Prez and Kman are joining us. We will be taking down the club trailer. We will also have the marquee and sponsor banners. I recommend you take some chairs and possibly your trainer to warm up. There was a small café there but it wasn’t particularly well equipped for the number of people there, so consider bringing some food for throughout the day.
The training we have had over the past couple of weeks has been invaluable and each team has benefited just through better understanding between each team members. So I encourage everyone in each team to spend some time together before July 21 to practise. As a club we are holding a practise on Saturday July 14. This is part of the normal Bobbo ride that departs the Bayview Hotel at Gladesville at 6.30. We arrive at Nth Turramurra shops at 7.10. There we will assemble into our teams and we will TT from there into Bobbin Head, up the climb on the Western side and along the flat to the ranger station at the entrance to the park. We will then ride as a bunch back to SOP.
For those that are staying overnight, Renee has organised the accommodation. If there is any confusion about whether you have or don’t have a room, please contact Renee. Pat is organising the dinner for Saturday night. It is assumed that everyone staying the night will be joining for dinner. If anyone is just coming down for the day but would like to stay on for dinner, and drive home after, please contact Pat. We’ll have breakfast together on the Sunday and then head out to the course for the race. We’ll head home after the race.
I’d really like to create a 5-10 min video of our weekend away. If you have a video camera, can you please bring it along and also take lots of photos of the weekend. From all the footage we can pull something together telling the story of the weekend. We can share that with others and also possibly our sponsors.
Can you please use this forum to ask questions and generally communicate about the weekend. I think it will just be easier than emails and FB.
Cheers
Russell
