Wow. What a weekend!!!! We are in the coldest months of the year and yet we are seeing so many club members out and about, whether its a club ride, social ride or a race.
We had multiple club rides happening on Saturday. There was Baker's dozen out for our Prospect ride. This ride is typically a social ride and so to see this number of people when it's so dark and cold is just awesome. Well done to everyone who is making it along.
We had 20 or so out to Parra Park for some Time Trial practise. The NSW Team Time Trials are on in a few weeks time and everyone is gearing up for it. The practise is really helping and each team is becoming more organised. Thanks to Nash for his guidance and advice at these sessions.
We also have half a dozen people head up on the club Bobbin Head ride.
I've also spied lots of other riders out and about over the weekend. Riders were out towards Maroota, Centennial Park, Bondi and Patonga. In the photos below, tough guy Ramon shows that a few layers solves any morning freshness that mother nature wants to dish out.
I also heard a few of the big dogs headed off to the Coluzzi ride and took Dangers along to play. I'm just wondering if he will be welcome back. 😀
There was plenty of action on the racing front. There was a number of Women's races at Marconi's Remembrance Cup at the Sydney Dragway and our ladies were in amongst the thick of it. Well done to Carlijn who snaffled a 4th place today in Div 2 race. Young Rachael Nichols grabbed 5th in the U15 girls race. Rachael is out with the Prospect ride every Saturday. Great to see a teenager out from behind the technology and keeping active and fit. Bad luck to Renzo who punctured in the Women's Div 1 race.
We also had a number of men there as well. There is too many to name them all but well done everyone who got out and competed. A special mention to Paul Drury, who showed nice guys don't finish last by nabbing 2nd in the Div 5 race.
Last Friday night James Howard ventured out to RAW at Dunc Grey for his first crack at track riding.
Pete McSwiggan and Ricardo Samson headed to Oakville on Saturday arvo for the Parra Cycling Club road race with Swiggers in the main bunch behind the 2 man breakaway.
Justin Slade headed up to Calga for a crack at the ITT run by ATTA.
In last weekends recap, I mentioned that Shane McGlone was in the mix at the Waratahs race at Lansdowne but I didn't have a photo. Well, I have tracked one down and he's showing how to "tip it in". Well done Shane.
I have undoubtedly missed a ride or race and I certainly don't have all the photos, so please add to this post in the comments below. The feedback to last weekends recap has been really positive and so everyone is keen to hear about what is going on in the club.
