The Wireless Planning and Coordination Wing (WPC) was founded in 1952 as a branch of the Department of Telecommunications, which is part of the Ministry of Communications. This federal department is in charge of granting amateur radio licences, as well as allocating and tracking frequency spectrum. It has regional offices in Chennai, Mumbai, Kolkata, and Guwahati, as well as its headquarters in New Delhi.
Once an application is submitted at the WPC office, the documents are pre-scrutinized by the authority.
Once WPC acknowledges the application it verifies the documents and raises any query if needed.
Upon further rectification by the applicant, WPC undergoes a fair procedure and grants the Equipment Type Approva
