This describes how the ITT will work. I realise it is not straight forward but we have done this to try and level the playing field for all riders, so that it isn't a foregone conclusion that an A grader will be the club champion.
The placings will be determined by your adjusted time.
Your adjusted time is (your ride time) - (your age-related standard time) - (your bike adjusted time).
Your age-related standard time is the difference between the Age Standards and the Ride times. A positive value indicates a rider is faster than his or her Standard Time. These are provided by ATTA.
Your bike adjusted time is:
0 seconds for a TT bike (ie. shifters on the aerobars)
1 minute for a road bike, with or without clip-on aero bars
So if your ride time is 40 minutes and you rode on a TT bike and your “Age-related Standard Time” is 3 minute then your adjusted time is 37 minutes. If you rode on a road bike then your adjusted time is 36 minutes.
All men will be graded and will compete against all people in that grade. Prize money will be awarded to the first 3 places in each grade.
All women will compete against each other. Your times will have a handicap time applied to your adjusted time. Renzo will be scratch and therefore her adjusted time is her final time. Each other lady will their handicap time deducted from their adjusted time. Prize money will be awarded to the first 3 places.
Points for the overall club championships will be awarded down to the first 10 places (or a number relative to the number of people in each grade). You also are awarded points for starting the race.
Nash, James and myself will determine your grade for the men and handicap time for the women. We will let you know this in advance of the race. You can challenge our grade or handicap but unless it comes with a substantial cash payment, it will amount to very little. 😀
I imagine this will create a number of questions, so please post these below and we will do the best we can to answer them.
We have modified the bike adjusted time to accomodate clip-on aerobars. The bike adjusted time is now:
0 seconds for a TT bike (ie. shifters on the aerobars)
30 seconds for a rad bike with clip-on aerobars
1 minute for a road bike, without clip-on aerobars
Here is the link to the spreadsheet which has the gradings (for men), handicaps for the ladies and the age standards.
All of this has been done to really try and even things out as best as I can. It's not perfect but hopefully everyone has a chance of a podium.
I've tried to set up the spreadsheet so I can get a result very quickly on the day and we can do a presentation. Please feel free to have a play around with the spreadsheet. If you see it throw up something unusual please let me know. To see what your adjusted time would be, you plug in a Y in the "Riding" column, your ride time and the type of bike used (TT, Clip-On or Road). The spreadsheet should do the rest.
If you feel you have been graded or handicapped unfairly, then please let me know.

The start times are now available at https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1DToDn0Qi2W2xS4IS6lwibfIVntq5WOXGCPI3mmG_iY0/edit#gid=1418736759
Please allow yourself time to pay, collect you arm number and warmup. You roll down the starting ramp at the nominated start time. If you prefer to start on the road rather than roll down the ramp, just tell the starters and they will help you.
I have really tried to arrange this so everyone has a chance. It is a bit of experiment and I hope it works out the way I envisage. In case it doesn't, I apologise in advance. Sometimes not even grid starts in Le Tour don't work out exactly as hoped for 😀
Good luck to everyone racing and huge thanks to LJ Hooker and Dynamic Office National for supporting this race
